Shirley Lazaro, PA-C

Shirley Lazaro, PA-C, is an Orthopaedic Physician Assistant working with our Mount Vernon joint replacement team and Dr. Craig McAsey. Although a recent addition to the Anderson Orthopaedic Joint Reconstruction team, Shirley has been in the field of Orthopaedics since graduation many years ago. During her Ortho rotation at Womack Army Hospital in North Carolina, she learned she had an interest and desire to work in Orthopaedics. Soon after graduation, she moved from her hometown in North Carolina to the Northern Virginia area.

She began her career in sports medicine, then later moved to general orthopedics, working at Ft. Belvoir, and lastly, as a First Assist PA at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. There, she honed her surgical skills, learned more about hip and knee reconstruction surgeries, and began working and learning from Dr. Craig McAsey and many of the other surgeons of the Anderson Clinic. Their talents and skills inspired her to work in the clinical setting again.

Shirley looks forward to helping patients regain their quality of life, not just during surgery but also from the beginning of their orthopaedic treatment and through their recovery. After twenty-plus years, Shirley can now call the NOVA area her home and stays busy with the latest home project or two, finding the best meal prep recipes for her family and keeping up with her teenager at home.
