Dr. McAsey returned to the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic in June 2017 after completing his Adult Reconstruction Fellowship in 2013. His practice focuses on the treatment of osteoarthritis, post-traumatic injuries, primary and complex replacement, revision surgery, and the treatment of joint replacement infection of the hip and knee. He had been practicing in the Chicago area over the past four years in academic medicine at Loyola University Medical Center and Hines VA Hospital.

After his year-long fellowship in Northern Virginia, Dr. McAsey returned to his native Chicagoland to work in academic medicine, training orthopaedic residents and medical students at Loyola University Medical Center and Hines VA Hospital. Shortly after arriving, he became Section Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery, managing clinical, surgical, and resident teaching for the orthopaedic service. He served as Assistant Professor at Loyola, where he was involved in Grand Rounds, didactic and surgical skills sessions for orthopaedic residents and medical students. During his time through both facilities he continued his research at Hines VA in both the biomechanics lab and with clinical research.

Dr. McAsey was born and raised in Joliet, IL. He completed his undergraduate training at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI, where he played football. He returned to the Chicagoland area to complete his medical education at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He stayed to complete his general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL. During his residency, he participated in biomechanical research at Hines VA Hospital. Following residency, he completed his fellowship training in adult reconstruction at the Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic, where he continued his clinical and research training.

Dr. McAsey also performs unicompartmental knee arthroplasty and anterior total hip arthroplasty, procedures which he learned from his mentors at Anderson Clinic.

Dr. McAsey spends as much time as possible with his wife and two daughters outside of work. His interests include woodworking, cycling, and exploring the outdoors with his family.
