Physician Advisor
After many years of caring for patients, Corey J. Wallach, MD, is stepping away from clinical practice, but he isn’t going far. Dr. Wallach will remain an important part of Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic as a Physician Advisor, continuing to share the experience, perspective, and leadership he has brought to the practice throughout his career.
A native of Northern Virginia, Dr. Wallach built his career as a spine surgeon at Anderson, where he played an integral role in the growth and development of the practice’s comprehensive spine program. He also served as Medical Director for the INOVA Spine Institute’s eastern region, helping advance the quality and coordination of spine care at INOVA Alexandria and INOVA Mount Vernon hospitals.
Dr. Wallach left Virginia to attend Columbia University, where he studied Architecture and Religion before pursuing a career in medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of California, Davis, where he received the Lipscomb Award for Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he conducted extensive research on biologic treatment strategies for degenerative spinal disorders, earning national and international recognition for his work. He then returned to California for fellowship training at the prestigious UCLA Comprehensive Spine Center, gaining advanced experience in motion-preserving, minimally invasive, and traditional treatment strategies for cervical, thoracic, and lumbar conditions while working alongside both orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine teams.
Upon returning to Northern Virginia, Dr. Wallach helped shape and expand spine care at Anderson, with an emphasis on patient education, conservative management, and advanced minimally invasive treatment options. His leadership extended beyond Anderson through his work with INOVA, where he contributed to the continued development of high-quality spine care across Northern Virginia.
Throughout his career, Dr. Wallach has remained actively involved in clinical research and education, lecturing nationally on the treatment of spinal disorders. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American College of Spine Surgery, chaired its educational curriculum, and served as President of the College.
In his role as Physician Advisor, Dr. Wallach remains connected to the practice he has helped shape, offering his insight and expertise as Anderson continues to grow and advance orthopaedic care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Wallach enjoys woodworking and playing guitar, but most of all, spending time with his wife and three children.
