Dr. Edgar, a former captain of the U-15 and U-17 USA Men’s Youth National Soccer teams, made his return to the USSF serving as team physician for the U-16 Men’s National Soccer tournament in L’Albir, Spain. The team participated in the Football Federations Cup along with Belgium, Wales, Japan, England, Germany, Spain, and Mexico. It was a successful tournament for the team who tied Spain 2-2, beat Wales 4-1, and beat England 2-1. Dr. Edgar’s reflections on his trip are below:

“First and foremost, I would like to thank George Chiampas, U.S. Soccer’s Chief Medical Officer, for granting me the opportunity to reunite with US Soccer and  work with the U-16 Men’s team. When I decided to pursue a career in Sports Medicine, my ambition was to return to US Soccer as a team physician to help our athletes stay healthy and perform at their highest level just as my team physicians did for me many moons ago. It is an honor to represent our country and I look forward to future opportunities to work with our young athletes.

A sincere thank you must also be given to the tireless efforts of our support staff, administration, sports science, and athletic trainers, without whom the trip could not have happened. Specifically, our athletic trainers, Thomas Zabielski and Juan Chavez, were instrumental in keeping our athletes healthy and performing at their best!”
