Dr. John Huffman, MD, is a pain management physician practicing at Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic’s newest location in Arlington, Virginia, on the campus of the Virginia Hospital Center. He is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (1994—present) and has an additional Pain Medicine Certification (1996—present).

Dr. Huffman completed his anesthesiology residency and pain medicine training at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. He was named chief resident during his final year of training, after which he remained on staff teaching as an assistant professor of anesthesiology and pain medicine until 1997.

Prior to joining Virginia Hospital Center, he served as the Medical Director of Pain Management at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, for over 22 years. His responsibilities included managing a staff of more than 25 medical professionals.

Dr. Huffman has extensive experience in all areas of pain medicine and has a special interest in Intrathecal Drug Delivery and Spinal Cord Stimulation. Both procedures are surgically implantable technologies for the treatment of chronic pain. He has taught and published extensively on interventional pain management techniques and the treatment of chronic pain. Outside of medicine, Dr. Huffman enjoys spending time with his dog, Hope, exercising, cooking, design, and travel.
