Dr. Adam Pickett is a dynamic and caring board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, shoulder arthroplasty, hip arthroscopy, joint preservation, and fracture care. He is a valuable referral source for arthroscopic and open treatment of complex shoulder, hip, and knee injuries.
Dr. Pickett received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and completed his medical degree at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 2010. He completed his orthopedic residency in 2016 at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. In 2017, he finished his fellowship in Sports Medicine at the combined John A. Feagin Sports Medicine Fellowship at West Point and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. After fellowship, he was asked to stay on as staff at West Point for a year.
Dr. Pickett has extensive experience as an orthopedic surgeon in both civilian and military settings. He deployed to Iraq, where he received three military awards, the highest being the Meritorious Service Medal, for the orthopedic care he provided to American and Iraqi service members. He also received a commendation medal for his deployment to Romania upon the invasion of Ukraine.
Dr. Pickett takes pride in the breadth of injuries he has seen during his time in the military. During his tenure at Walter Reed and his deployment to Iraq, Dr. Pickett was actively involved in caring for wounded warriors who sustained complex trauma from gunshot wounds and IED blasts. At West Point, he treated the Army Corps of Cadets. These student-athletes came with a wide range of complex sports injuries. He was an assistant team physician for the West Point Football Team and a Team Physician for the baseball team. These unique experiences gave him a great appreciation for the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and solidified his commitment to providing compassionate and comprehensive orthopedic care. He is a proud advocate for veterans and military families.
Dr. Pickett is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons. He has published several valuable scientific articles related to the management of musculoskeletal conditions and the medical care of those injured in combat.
In his free time, Dr. Pickett enjoys golfing, spending time with his family, hiking, cooking, and Nationals baseball. He is happily married to his medical school sweetheart and has 4 children (1 boy and 3 girls). He is excited to raise a family in Montgomery County, MD.
